Hofbrauhaus is the only German restaurant of its kind in the centre of Melbourne. Established in 1968 it has become a restaurant and function centre landmark in the city of Melbourne.
Come and join us for a fun night out with delicious German food, plentiful German beer, schnapps, dancing and live music in true Bavarian style. Both à la carte and set menu dining are available. We are open for lunch Monday to Friday and for dinner seven nights a week.
The live entertainment from Tuesday to Sunday evenings creates a unique atmosphere for a fantastic night. Alternatively, live entertainment can be organised for larger groups during lunchtime such as corporate functions.

Live German Music every weekend
Weekend live German entertainment includes a floor show with Slap dancing, Yodeling, Cow bells and singing. Musicians clad in Lederhosen perform spirited German songs sweeping away the floor in polkas, marches and drinking songs.
At Hofbrauhaus, Birthdays, Hens & Bucks parties are a big deal. Get involved in the floor show - participate in Cow bell ringing, yodel a chorus along with the band or have a go at a round of chicken dancing.
Authentic German Food
Our Dinner and Lunch menu is packed with great German food including Schnitzels, Sausages, Potatoes and Meat in generous portions.
Roasted Pork Schanks are our specialty! And they are a big favourite! Come and taste the succulent meat of this famous Munchener Schweinshaxe large roast pork shank pickled and slowly roasted. Served with traditional potato dumplings and sauerkraut.
There are many favourite meals such as Veal Jagerschnitzel, Beef Rindsroulade, Leberknodelsuppe Beef, Liver Dumplings and Kaseptazle homemade egg noodles with cheese.
If you have come for the Wurst then be prepared for the best! At the Hofbrauhaus, there's plenty and it's terrific. Order a generous main course of either Bratwurst, Weisswurst, Frankfurter, Krainer or Debreciner served with a side of either German style potato salad or sauerkraut and German Potatoes.
Great range of German Beer and Schnapps
Beer Steins at a Hofrabauhaus are no mere decoration. The staff will keep yours filled and busy. On tap German beer favourites include DAB, Hofrbauhaus, HB Dunkel and Bavarian Weissbier.
Bottled beer imports include Hofbrauhaus, Becks, DAB, Heineken, Gosser, Pilsner Hansa, Weizenbier, Schneider Weisse and Wheat Doppelbock. There is also a large range of local beers available.
A great selection of Schnapps includes Herbal, Fruit and Clear Bavarian Schnapps from fruit favourites like Apple Schnapps through to herbal Jagermeister Schnapps and extra strong Killer Schnapps.
